Tutoring helps identify and address crucial building blocks that may have been missed along the way. Once all the building blocks are in place, the student can succeed in learning the more advanced concepts. Private tutoring is $30 per hour. |

Math Classes at the high school and college level can be taught to small groups either at Space City Learning Lab, or we can come to you. Terri Cavender has a master's degree in math and has enjoyed teaching math at the developmental, high school and college levels for more years than she'd like to say (since 1981, ahem). Small group pricing is $40 per hour. |

Noon Yoga with Katie (Wednesdays noon-1:00pm)- Experience the ultimate in self-care with this gentle yoga class taught by expert Katie Burrus, who says, For me, yoga is about being with oneself. It is work, with the desired outcome of self-awareness, patience, and kindness...but greater strength and flexibility are also a nice bonus.There is a $15 drop-in rate, but class packages can be purchased in bundles of 4 or more, for $12/class. |

Conga and Bongo Playing (Mondays 6:30-7:30pm)- Learn techniques for Congas, Bongo, Shekere and more. All ages and skill levels welcome. From traditional Rumba poly-rhythms to funky back beats, it will be covered. The instructor, Jeff Woods, studied with Miami percussionist Johnny Conga, who studied with Mongo Santamaria himself (making Jeff Mongo's "conga grandson" and YOU Mongo's great-grandchild -- cool, huh?). Drums are not required. You may bring yours if you have one, but extra drums are available in class. No experience necessary for the beginner class. Simply walk in, pay the $15 fee and leave your woes behind. Class six-pack available for $75, three-pack available for $40. |

Shekere Building - A shekere ("shake-ur-ay") is the beaded gourd instrument used in latin and African music. Attendees will learn how to clean the gourd, prepare the surface and string the beads. After building the shekere, instructor Jeff Woods will teach the the basic rhythms and usage of the shekere in Afro-Cuban and latin music. No prior experience playing music is necessary. $45 includes all materials. |

Optical Theremin Building - Construct an optical theremin to make your own space-age sounds! Attendees will learn how to build a small electronic toy instrument played by shading light sensors with the hands. No previous electronics experience necessary. This two-hour beginner course is taught by Emily Bodnar, who plays traditional theremin in several bands. The traditional theremin is built with antennas and oscillators, but the optical theremin uses light to produce the sounds. Emily will demonstrate the traditional theremin, teach the basics of traditional theremin playing, summarize the history of the theremin, provide an introduction to circuits and electronic components, and walk the student through the entire building process. This class serves as an excellent science enrichment course. $45 includes all materials. |
